Things to do in Cozumel

Things to do in Cozumel is about one of the worlds most fun and diverse vacation destinations. I decided to set up this web page to give you an idea of the vast array of activities available here while on vacation. I hope that you enjoy the photos and descriptions, and I hope that you will choose Cozumel for your next vacation getaway!
Things to do in Cozumel.

The past vs. the present:

I still remember my first visit to Cozumel. What impressed me most was its people. The native Mayan people are friendly and warm. The traditional Mayan dress shown in this picture is seldom seen these days except during folkloric dances held in various places throughout the island. Also, today's Cozumeleño is a little more non traditional!!.....

Cozumel Carnival!

Carnival 2014 was a blast as usual! There were tons of great costumes, dancing, food, drinks, floats and fun!! This photo was taken of one of the locals that participated in 2008. Our Cozumel Carnival page has the latest photos of this years event on it. If you want to see a video of this years Carnival you will find it on our Carnival page. Make sure to come and enjoy the islands best party of the year next year. To see a video of Carnival 2013 just click on the clown!

If you would like to make reservations for your accommodations during Carnival 2015 just click on the sun icon. It is never too early to book for Carnival.

Casa ColonialHope to see you at Carnival!

Downtown Cozumel.

Downtown:

As you can see downtown has a very special beauty all its own. It sure has changed since my first visit! The sleepy little fishing village of the past has been replaced by a newer more diversified vacation destination.

Oh well; the price of "progress!"

The Town Square on Sunday Night:

Don't let the first picture without people fool you. Every Sunday night around 8:00 p.m. it gets packed with locals and tourists alike, dancing to the live band that plays downtown! I remember the first time I heard them (around 26 years ago). They weren't that good but we sure had fun. Well, they've gotten much better and the fun is still the same!

San Miguel Town Square on Sunday night!
Hey! What about that things to do list I promised?! I have to admit I do get a little sentimental about tradition; but we'll move on.
Passion Island, Cozumel!

The first thought that comes to mind when I'm thinking about my vacation is doing absolutely nothing! After all, I've just been on an airplane, a car, packing and wrapping up at work so I can get away!

I can think of no better place to start unwinding then Passion Island; if you want to experience mother nature at her finest. It is one of the newest activity to make the scene and is being written up all over the internet.

It is about the hottest excursion on the island since sliced tortillas!! :-)

Seriously, this is a must if you want to have the most amazing tropical vacation on our island paradise.

As always, just click on the photo to the left and it will take you there!

Looking for a really cool and unique adventure to do while in Cozumel? Then this is for you!

Cruise around in your own mini submarine!!!

See exotic flora & fauna and tropical marine fish swim by you as you glide along in your personal submarine. No water experience or special gear needed for this eco-tour (works for guests wearing contact lenses).

Compressed air in the helmet allows you to breath comfortably- So go ahead and take your mini sub to a depth of 15 feet. Our staff of certified SCUBA divers serve as your underwater guides. Bring an underwater disposable camera to document your experience, and the staff will gladly take photos for you!

Cozumel Mexico's best kept secret beach!
The picture on the right was taken by me on a little known spot on the southernmost tip of the island (O.K. so it's a little blurry; that's because it was taken in 1987!). My amigo Gillermo and friend Christine went there to spend the day and eat some fresh fruits and fish. We never saw anyone the whole day! You can still experience the remote side of Cozumel on the windward side of the island.

Horseback riding tour:

As you know, everyone on the island looks like this! The fact is that horseback riding is very popular and you can take a ride in the Jungles and savannahs as well as on the beach. It's a lot of fun and you can really relax while enjoying the ride.

Cozumel ATV Snorkel Tour

Are you ready for an exciting ATV Adventure through the heart of the Jungles of Cozumel? Well this is the excursion for you.

You leave from the Mayan Town of “El Cedral,” and visit a natural "cenote" (fresh water lagoon connected through a labyrinth of underground rivers), followed by an underground cave and later on to visit a small Mayan Ruin; all of which are tied to the Mayan Civilization.

After that you will be transported to one of Cozumel’s beautiful beaches where if you choose you may experience a one of a kind snorkel experience in the pristine waters of the Mexican Caribbean.

One of the islands newest excursions is Flyboarding. From beginner to experienced this adventure is exillerating and fun! The picture on the left was taken of Bradley's very first Flyboard experience. For more information and to make reservations just click on the picture and you will be taken there. Her is also a YouTube video that will give you a sneak preview of what you can expect.
